Oelslager announces passage of multiple legislative bills

State Representative Scott Oelslager of North Canton has announced the passage of several legislative bills. The newly passed legislation covers a range of topics and was approved with varying levels of support.

Senate Bill 62, which passed unanimously with a vote of 90-0, designates October 4th as "Rutherford B. Hayes Day." Sub. Senate Bill 196, which aims to modernize Ohio law concerning advanced practice registered nurses, was approved with an 89-1 vote.

Sub. Senate Bill 237, co-sponsored by Oelslager, enacts the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act to address "Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation" cases by expediting their dismissal process. This bill passed with an 84-0 vote.

Sub. Senate Bill 37 makes changes to driver's license suspension penalties related to drug abuse offenses and failure to provide proof of insurance; it passed with an 87-4 vote.

Sub. Senate Bill 198 requires the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and the Ohio Department of Youth Services to provide eligible inmates with identification documents upon release to assist in employment opportunities. This bill also had strong support, passing with an 86-0 vote.

Lastly, Sub. Senate Bill 41 revises the building inspection law to make the process more efficient through expedited appeals, passing with an identical vote count of 86-0.
