Scott Oelslager | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Scott Oelslager from North Canton has announced the passage of several legislative measures in Ohio. These new laws cover a range of topics including school bus safety, parole board transparency, employment verification, youth leadership programs, veteran services, and waste management.
House Bill 3, known as the School Bus Safety Act, passed with unanimous support and aims to enhance safety measures for school buses across the state. Similarly, House Bill 31 was approved without opposition; it mandates electronic recordings of all parole board hearings and ensures these recordings are accessible to the public upon request.
The E-Verify Workforce Integrity Act was also passed with significant backing. Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 246 requires employers to use the E-Verify program to confirm the employment eligibility of new hires. Another measure co-sponsored by Oelslager is House Concurrent Resolution 7 which supports youth education through American Legion Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State programs.
Senate Bill 39 will lead to the creation of informational posters on veteran benefits and services. These posters will be distributed free of charge to Ohio employers who request them. Lastly, Senate Bill 147 revises existing laws concerning solid waste and construction debris entering Ohio.
Oelslager invites constituents to share their feedback or opinions on these matters. He can be reached at his office via phone at (614) 752-2438, email at Rep48@OhioHouse.gov, or mail at 77 South High St., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
