The City of Canton, in collaboration with The Greater Canton Veterans Council, is organizing the traditional Memorial Day parade. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The parade will commence at the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Tuscarawas Street West. It will proceed west on Tuscarawas Street, then head north on Elgin, concluding with a Memorial Day Observance Ceremony at the McKinley Monument.

In addition to the parade and ceremony, several formal rituals are suggested for those wishing to honor fallen military personnel:

"The American flag should be flown at half-staff until noon on Memorial Day, then raised to the top of the staff."

All Americans are encouraged to observe a National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time. They may also visit cemeteries and memorials open to the public. Another tradition is wearing a red poppy in remembrance of those who have fallen in war—a practice that began with John McCrae's World War I poem "In Flanders Fields."

The City of Canton plans to display National, State, and City flags throughout the city on decorative light poles as a tribute to fallen soldiers and military personnel. This initiative aims to instill a sense of pride within the community.
