City of Canton Mayor William V. Sherer II has issued a reminder to both residents and visitors about the curfew in place for the city's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORAs). The curfew, which begins at 9:00 p.m., is part of an ordinance aimed at regulating the presence of minors in these areas.

According to Canton Codified Ordinance 503.03, "No minor shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play, or be in or on any vehicle, in or upon any public place within the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area within the City of Canton between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m." There are exceptions to this rule, including minors accompanied by an adult or those engaged in legitimate employment or activities directed by their guardians.

The ordinance emphasizes accountability for unaccompanied minors found violating this rule, as well as their parents or guardians.

For further inquiries, residents can contact the Mayor’s office directly.
