COLUMBUS—Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) announced the recent passage of several significant legislative measures.
“In everything I do, whether it is in Columbus or back in my home district of Stark County, I will continue to make your priorities my priorities,” said Oelslager.
The newly passed bills include:
House Bill 352: Establish Adverse Childhood Experiences Study Commission (89-5). This bill will create the Adverse Childhood Experiences Commission to study the effects of adverse childhood experiences on Ohio’s youth.
House Bill 360: Designate Ukraine Independence Day (85-7). Co-sponsored by Oelslager, this bill will designate August 24th as “Ukrainian Independence Day” in Ohio.
House Bill 372: Require drivers to stop for on-track equipment at railroad crossings (92-1). Also known as Stop, Look, and Listen, this bill will require drivers to stop for on-track equipment at railroad crossings. It was co-sponsored by Oelslager.
House Resolution 374: Memorialize the 100th anniversary of Ireland-US diplomatic relations (90-1). Co-sponsored by Oelslager, this resolution honors the one hundredth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Ireland. On June 28, 1924, the United States officially recognized the Irish Free State as a sovereign state with autonomous control over its foreign relations.
House Bill 37: Increase penalties for OVI and aggravated vehicular homicide (93-0). Co-sponsored by Oelslager, this bill increases penalties for those who commit aggravated vehicular homicide and have previously been convicted of an OVI-related offense.
