Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) has announced the recent passage of several significant pieces of legislation in Ohio. The approved bills encompass a variety of areas, including social work licensure, school policy on over-the-counter drugs, operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, and combating drug and human trafficking.

Senate Bill 90 was passed with a vote of 90-2, enabling Ohio to join the "Social Work Licensure Compact." This is an interstate occupational licensure compact for social workers.

House Bill 70 was approved with a vote of 92-1. It mandates local school districts to include over-the-counter medications in their school policy, supplementing the existing requirement for prescription medication policy.

House Bill 77 regards the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ohio. Co-sponsored by Oelslager, it received an approval vote of 89-2 and will establish requirements and prohibitions governing the operations of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ohio.

Lastly, House Bill 230 targets drug trafficking and organized trafficking of persons. Also co-sponsored by Oelslager, it was passed with a vote of 80-13 and aims to directly combat the drug and human trafficking crises in Ohio.

"In everything I do, whether it is in Columbus or back in my home district of Stark County, I will continue to make your priorities my priorities," said Oelslager. He also invited feedback from constituents at any time through various contact methods including phone calls, emails or letters.
