Canton, Ohio - In response to the ongoing frigid temperatures, the city of Canton has announced the availability of several warming centers for its citizens. These centers aim to provide a safe and warm environment, while also adhering to COVID-19 precautions such as masks and social distancing.

The Canton Police and Fire Departments have also stepped up their efforts to check on citizens who may be exposed to the cold weather. Citizens in need of assistance are encouraged to call 911 for immediate help.

One of the warming centers available is the Refuge of Hope, located at 715 Second St NE, Canton, OH 44704. According to a spokesperson from the center, "We are ready to welcome anyone in need. Guests must enter through door #4 and we will provide hot beverages and food to help them stay warm."

Another option is the Crossroads United Methodist Church, situated at 120 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH 44702. The church has opened its doors to provide shelter and warmth to those seeking refuge. A representative from the church stated, "We are committed to helping our community during this difficult time. Please come to our location and we will do our best to assist you."

The Canton Civic Center, located at 1101 Market Avenue North, also offers a warm space for individuals in need. Guests are required to enter through the south doors, specifically the "McKinley Room" entrance below the parking garage. Masks are available on-site, and hot food and beverages will be provided to ensure comfort and sustenance.

For those who require transportation to the warming centers, the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) will be providing assistance. However, if SARTA is unavailable, individuals are advised to call 330-649-5800 for further assistance.
