Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) has recently announced the successful passage of several significant pieces of legislation in the Ohio House. These bills cover a range of important issues and have received overwhelming support from the House members.

One of the bills that has been passed is House Bill 165, which designates the portion of State Route 36 in front of the late State Representative Kris Jordan's homesite as the Representative Kris Jordan Memorial Highway. Speaking about the bill, Oelslager said, "House Bill 165 will honor the memory of Representative Kris Jordan and his dedicated service to our community."

Another bill, House Bill 26, establishes the "Town and Country Firefighter Lt. Philip M. Wigal Memorial Highway." In addition, House Bill 253 designates the area from the Charles Young National Monument in Wilberforce, Ohio to the Kentucky/Ohio Bridge in Ripley as the "Brigadier General Charles Young Memorial Historical Corridor." Oelslager, who co-sponsored the bill, expressed his support, saying, "This historical corridor will preserve the legacy of Brigadier General Charles Young and highlight his contributions to our nation."

Other bills passed include House Bill 202, which designates the "Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Memorial Highway," House Bill 190, which designates Black Maternal Health Week, and House Concurrent Resolution 7, which urges Congress to make daylight saving time permanent in Ohio.

Furthermore, House Bill 195 creates an adaptive mobility vehicle dealer license in the state of Ohio, while House Bill 78 addresses voting procedures within the State Teachers Retirement System. Oelslager affirmed his commitment to retirees, saying, "I am proud to support House Bill 78, which allows re-employed retirants to run for election and have a voice in the State Teachers Retirement Board."

Additionally, House Concurrent Resolution 6 urges Congress to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision enacted in 1983, and House Bill 173 designates May as "Older Ohioans Month" to recognize the contributions of older adults in Ohio.

Other bills that have been passed include House Bill 203, which requires timely payment to contractors for private construction projects, and House Bill 29, which implements driver's license suspensions as a result of failure to pay child support.
