State Representative Scott Oelslager from North Canton has announced the recent passage of several legislative measures in Ohio.

The Repeat Offender Act, co-sponsored by Oelslager, aims to increase penalties for violent felons found possessing a gun while "under disability." House Bill 5 also introduces a new firearm specification for repeated illegal firearm possession.

House Bill 44 addresses law enforcement training and recruitment processes. It allows police departments to fill vacant positions without requiring competitive examinations and grants police chiefs the authority to implement training programs for new cadets.

House Bill 104 designates February 14th as Cardiovascular Health Awareness Day in Ohio, passed with unanimous support.

To standardize kindergarten admission age requirements across the state, House Bill 114 was approved with full backing.

Oelslager also co-sponsored House Concurrent Resolution 6, which supports the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial's efforts in celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

Senate Bill 21, another co-sponsored bill by Oelslager, establishes October 4th as Rutherford B. Hayes Day in Ohio.

Rep. Oelslager is open to feedback and encourages constituents to reach out via phone at (614) 752-2438, email at Rep48@OhioHouse.gov, or mail at his office address: 77 South High St., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
