Men's Lacrosse Sweeps Great Midwest Weekly Awards for Second Time | https://images.sidearmdev.com/
On Monday, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced the Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week.
For the second time this season, the Malone University Pioneers swept both awards with freshman Zac Smargiasso bringing home the G-MAC Offensive Athlete of the Week, and junior goalie Phillip Bell being named the G-MAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for a third time this year.
Smargiasso totaled 8 goals and 7 assists this past week for Malone. He had four goals and six assists in Wednesday's 15-11 win over NAIA nationally ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He followed that up with 4 goals and an assist in Saturday's G-MAC opener against Davis & Elkins College.
Bell amassed 40 total saves this week. He also posted a .635 saves percentage.
He leads the G-MAC with 152 saves this season. His .578 saves percentage is second-best in the league.
