SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO ILLINOIS AND FLORIDA TO GET SEASON UNDERWAY | https://images.sidearmdev.com/
The Cavalier Softball team has had a busy few weeks of travel, playing 16 games in between Rosemont, Illinois and Leesburg, Florida. The first four games of the season were in Illinois at the Lewis Flyers Dome Invitational. This was an indoor event hosted by Lewis University on February 24th and 25th. The Cavs went 1-3 on the weekend, their only victory coming against Wayne State, 4-3.
Nine days later, the Maroon and Gold traveled to Leesburg, Florida to play in The Spring Games. There, they played 12 games against teams from all over the Midwest. The team went 5-7 overall, coming up victorious against Upper Iowa University, Edinboro, Felician University, Truman State University, and St. Michaels College. The Cavaliers will continue their season this coming Friday, March 17th, at home, vs Davenport. The double header is set to start at 3pm.

- Ashley Zgodzinski and Lindsey Bingham each went 2-3.
- Freshman pitcher, Lindsey Leeds secured her first collegiate win.

Game 1 Walsh 7 - Upper Iowa 6
- Bryn Elliott hit a walk off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel the Cavs to victory.
- Sarah Moats and Riley Grimm each went 3-4.
- Sara Gockenbach recorded the win in the circle.
Game 3 Walsh 8 - Edinboro 0
- Sara Gockenbach pitched a no hitter. She went five innings with 0 runs, 0 hits, and seven strikeouts!
- Kalin Kovach went 3-3 from the plate.
- The Cavs scored eight runs on six hits in the contest, including five RBI's.

- Sarah Cantley secured the win for the Cavs. She gave up three hits and walked two batters.
- The Cavs capitalized on errors by the Truman State defense to score three runs.
Game 12 Walsh 4 - St. Michaels College 0
- Sara Gockenbach pitched her way to another victory. She threw all seven innings, giving up eight hits. She struck out three batters.
- Clare Mewhinney was 2-2 with one RBI.
- Emma Kelley and Lindsey Bingham each went 1-1.
