For the second week in a row, Kent State sophomore Alyssa Guns has earned weekly honors from the Mid-American Conference, the league office announced Tuesday. Guns was named the Co-Specialist of the Week following her performance against Eastern Michigan on Sunday, sharing the award with Ball State's Suki Pfister.
Guns won her second-consecutive floor title with a 9.925 against the Eagles. She has now won on floor three times during her sophomore campaign, and her 9.895 NQS in the event is the second-highest mark in the conference. Guns also tallied a 9.800 on beam as the Golden Flashes posted their highest score on the apparatus so far this season (49.175).
Guns has now earned weekly honors from the Mid-American Conference twice in her collegiate career.
The Flashes travel to Columbus on Sunday for a tri-meet with Ohio State and Illinois. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
