Gymnastics Heads to Bowling Green for Dual Meet with Falcons | Flickr by Vivian Hayles
The Kent State gymnastics team will look to pick up its second dual meet win on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Golden Flashes will square off against Bowling Green at 4 p.m to wrap up their two-meet road trip.

LAST TIME OUT
The Flashes finished second at the Northern Illinois Tri-Meet on February 4. The Flashes beat Simpson 195.025-185.175 in the first-ever meeting between the two squads but fell just short of the host Huskies' 195.425 mark. Senior Rachel DeCavitch won the all-around for the second-straight meet with a cumulative score of 39.275.
Starting on bars, the Flashes totaled a 48.450 team score. DeCavitch led the way for Kent State with a 9.800, finishing third overall in the event. Junior Sarah Haxton recorded a season-best 9.775 and senior Karlie Franz earned a 9.750 to open the meet, while senior Taylor Wentland continued her strong start to the year on the event, scoring 9.725.
On beam, sophomores Alyssa Guns and Grace Wehry both set new season-highs of 9.825 and 9.775, respectively. Haxton added a 9.750 as the Flashes combined for a 48.550 event total.
The Flashes posted a 49.425 on floor, their highest mark of the season on any event so far. Franz (9.925) and DeCavitch (9.900) both matched their personal-best scores, finishing second and third overall. Franz has now eclipsed the 9.900 mark in three straight meets. Guns and junior Kennedy Weinpert each scored 9.875. Wehry (9.825) and senior Olivia Amodei (9.850) each set new season-highs with strong routines themselves.
DeCavitch won the vault title with a 9.825 and was the only gymnast in the meet to eclipse the 9.800 mark. Franz and junior Kyndall Gilbert tied for second in the event with a score of 9.775. The Flashes totaled 48.600 on the final event.
Entering the week, the Flashes are ranked #19 in the nation on floor in the latest Road to Nationals standings.
SERIES STATS
Saturday's meet will be the 104th meeting between the Flashes and Falcons. Kent State has an 82-21 advantage in the all-time series and has come away victorious in eight of the last nine matchups. A year ago, the Flashes won all four events and DeCavitch won the all-around as the Flashes earned a 195.050-192.650 victory.

The Flashes return to the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 1:00 p.m. to take on Ball State in Kent State's annual Pink Meet.
