The Kent State track and field teams will compete in the first of three meets at Stile Athletics Field House during the indoor season on Friday evening as they return to action for the annual dual meet against rival Akron.
Various field events are scheduled to get the meet started at 4 p.m. The men's one-mile run gets action on the track started at 5 p.m. The women's 4x400 relay will conclude the running events at approximately 7:25 p.m.
The event will be scored as a dual meet with 5-3-2-1 points being awarded for individual events with two scores per team, while relays will be scored with the winner being awarded five points and the runner-up three points.

Tickets are available for $10 at www.GoZips.com/tickets and must be purchased in advance. All fans should enter through the Akron student recreation center main entrance. Doors will open to the public at 3:00 p.m.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHESKent State has 75 student-athletes slated for competition, including five who will make their debuts in a Flashes uniform.
The Flashes will have 10 athletes who posted top-100 national performances at the season-opening Falcon Early Bird Open last Saturday in action. Baidy Ba and Ethan Yost are ranked 13th and 24th, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Ba, who was named Mid-American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, also owns a top-50 time in the 5,000-meter run and will run in the mile and 3,000-meter run on Friday. Asa Hodrick (#51) and Jaheim Jones (#90) clocked personal-bests in the 60-meter dash. Both will run the 200-meter dash for the first time this season, while Jones is also entered in the 60m. Alexander Shields sits at No. 35 on the national performance list with a PR of 7.91 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Trey Double is Kent State's final ranked competitor on the track. Double is 91st in the mile and will compete in the 800-meter run.
Aliesha Shaw leads the way in field events after recording a personal-best throw of 50'-6.25" and sits at No. 35 in the women's shot put. Nolan Landis also notched a personal-best of 56'-2.5" and is 73rd in the men's shot put. Grace Luther joined the PR party held by the Flashes' throwers. Luther moved into the No. 9 spot in the school record book with a throw of 60'-3.25" that puts her at No. 76 nationally in the weight throw. Leah Pasqualetti rounds out the ranked field competitors at No. 53 in the pole vault with a clearance of 13'-0.25".
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATEThe Golden Flashes will send student-athletes to both the Illini Challenge and Penn State National Open for competition on Jan. 27-28.
