WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STARTS THE SEASON OFF WITH A PAIR OF WINS

The 2022/2023 Women's Basketball season tipped off this weekend in Kenosha, WI at the Nexus Classic hosted by Parkside. The event featured teams from the G-MAC, GLIAC, and the GLVC. The Cavaliers faced Rockhurst on Friday and Missouri S&T on Saturday, securing wins in both contests. Besides the two wins, the team is coming home with other achievements that include Coach Schwitzgable's first win as the Cavs Head Coach, Senior Morgan McMillen's 1,000th career point, and Redshirt Junior, Abby Hickey's career high scoring in a game. The team is looking to continue this success throughout the rest of the season.

SCORE: Cavs 80 - Rockhurst 71, Cavs 66 - Missouri S&T 57 

RECORDS: Cavs 2-0, Rockhurst 0-1, Missouri S&T 0-2 

FOR THE CAVS VS ROCKHURST 

  • Morgan McMillen kicked off her season with a double-double which included 25 points and 10 rebounds. 
  • Abby Hickey was one rebound away from a double-double. Her stat line includes 15 points and nine rebounds.
  • Lexie Scarton dished out six assists while freshman Emma Dretke contributed 12 points and five rebounds on 3-5 shooting from the three point arc.
FOR ROCKHURST

  • Macie Conway was the team's leading scorer with 14 points.
  • Keegan Sullivan and Addison Bent grabbed seven boards a piece. 
  • The team had 20 fast break points compared to Walsh's nine.
FOR THE CAVS VS MISSOURI S&T

  • The Cavaliers shot 45.5% from the three point line.
  • Abby Hickey had a game high in points with 19.
  • Morgan McMillen was 6-6 from the charity stripe. Overall she had 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
  • Lexie Scarton led the team in rebounds with seven.
FOR MISSOURI S&T

  • Anna Finley led the team in scoring with 16 points. 
  • Michaela Davis was 5-5 from the free throw line. She had 11 points and eight rebounds. 
  • The team shot 14.3% from three point.
The Cavaliers have a short break until their next game. The team will have two games in Detroit, MI against Saginaw Valley and Wayne State right before the Thanksgiving holiday.
