Stark County Health Department Of Nursing Services & The School Systems

Not only do Stark County Health Department nurses work as school nurses within multiple schools within Stark county, but the department hosts a monthly school nurse support group meeting for all local school nurses and key personnel.  These meetings are also a way for school personnel to learn about valuable resources available to the public and ways that they can help those in need. These meetings assist with the multiple aspects and updates of caring for children while at school as initiated by the Ohio Department of Health and the CDC and can cover topics like:

  • Immunization requirements
  • Communicable disease regulations
  • Concussions
  • Orthopedic injuries
Uhler explained that “In addition to school nurse services, we have partnered with an area school to implement a program called ROX that focuses on empowering girls in grades 5-12 to be confident and control their futures. We hope to continue to expand this program in the years to come.”
