Walsh University Athletics issued the following announcement on Feb. 24

With the end of the regular season nearing, the Walsh Cavaliers men's basketball team pushed closer to a G-MAC regular season title on Thursday (Feb. 24) night in Columbus. While improving to 20-6 overall and 15-4 in the conference, Walsh will look to secure the number one seed this weekend.

In the 77-64 win over the Ohio Dominican Panthers, senior Darryl Straughter became the all-time leading scorer with 2,092 points on a 23-point night. Straughter surpassed Corry Appline (2,081 points), who set the record in 1993. His three-pointer with 15:39 left in the second half secured his spot on top of the scoring category for the program.

Walsh trailed twice early before a 6-0 run turned a 7-5 deficit into an 11-7 lead with 12:56 to go. Walsh never looked back as they pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the second half.

Five players scored in double-figures on Thursday night, including Straughter with 23 points. Straughter knocked down nine-of-15 shots, including five-of-11 three pointers. A trio of Cavaliers ended at 11 points. Caleb Canter scored 11 points on five-of-nine shooting with six rebounds and five assists. Garrison Keeslar flirted with a triple-double with 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Tim Smith Jr. gave the Cavaliers 11 points and four rebounds. Luke Howes scored ten points off the bench with five boards to go with it. Owen Hazelbaker made two threes off the bench.

Walsh shot 54.5% (30-55) from the floor in the game, including 62.1% (18-29) overall in the second half with seven-of-11 from beyond the arc. Walsh made 11-of-20 three pointers on the night.

The Cavaliers will close the regular season at home on Saturday (Feb. 26) for Senior Day against the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. Tipoff for the finale will be 3:00 PM at Alumni Arena on Wall of Fame day.
