Walsh moves to first place after 70-68 win over Ashland

Walsh University Athletics issued the following announcement on Feb. 17

The Walsh University Cavaliers bumped up to first place in the G-MAC rankings Thursday (February 17th) after beating Ashland University for the second time this season. The Cavaliers bounced back after being down 17-4 six minutes into regulation. 

Score: Walsh 70, Ashland 68

Records: Walsh 18-6 (13-4), Ashland 16-8 (12-5)

Location: Charles Kates Gym (Ashland, Ohio)

FOR THE CAVALIERS:

  • Fifth-Year gaurd Darryl Straughter led the Cavs in scoring, shooting seven-of-fifteen from the field for a total of 20 points
  • Tim Smith Jr. followed with 15 points while also leading Walsh in rebounds at eight on the day
  • Caleb Canter added 12 points, shooting five-of-nine from the floor
  • Garrison Keeslar rounded out the Cavaliers offense, adding 10 points and dishing out team-high four assists
  • Walsh outrebounded the Eagles 41-29
FOR THE EAGLES:

  • #5 Aaron Thompson led with 20 points, shooting seven-of-ten from the floor. Thompson also recorded game-high five assists
  • Brandon Haraway poured in 15 points and grabbed game-high nine rebounds for Ashland
  • Bo Furcron tabbed 14 points as he shot five-of-ten from the floor
UP NEXT: 

The Cavaliers face the Dragons from Tiffin University Saturday, February 19th at 3 p.m.
