Walsh University Athletics issued the following announcement on Feb. 11
With student-athletes competing at two meets this weekend, there were a number of opportunities for the Walsh Cavaliers men's track and field team to improve as the Great Midwest Indoor Championships is coming in two weeks. Walsh competed in the Grand Valley State Big Meets on Friday (Feb. 11) and Saturday (Feb. 12) and the Reggie Thomas Classic at Tiffin.
GVSU Big Meet – Friday & Saturday
Alexa Leppelmeier finished second in the 3000 meter run, ending the race in 9:32.01 - a NCAA D2 Provisional mark. Alex Bauer (5:01.27) and Teja Young (18:04.03) competed in the Mile and 5K, respectively.
Reggie Thomas Classic – Tiffin
Bree Lumpkin paced the Cavaliers in the Shot Put with a 10th place finish, topping out at 12.13 meters. Madison Webb led the Weight Throw group in 16th place with a 14.23 meter toss. Lumpkin (13.66 meters) and Reagan Garrett (12.97 meters) also competed in the Weight Throw as well.
Walsh will tune up for the Great Midwest Championships with action in Akron and Kent State on Friday (Feb. 18) and Saturday (Feb. 19).
