Walsh University Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 24
After a busy weekend of action between Youngstown State and Mount Vernon Nazarene, there were a handful of performances that were worthy of Great Midwest Athlete of the Week honors. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) honored three Walsh student-athletes for their efforts last weekend.
Jacob Ott earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week accolades while Alexa Leppelmeier and Ndidiamaka Anaraodo swept the Women's Track and Field awards.
On the women's side, Leppelmeier and Anaraodo dazzled in their respective events. Leppelmeier won the mile event at Youngstown State in a time of 4:54.44, reaching a NCAA Division II Provisional Mark. Anaraodo took first in the shot put at Mount Vernon Nazarene. In the shot put, Ndidi broke her own school record with a throw of 15.48 meters. Through this weekend, she sits first in all of Division II with her provisional standard throw and 3rd in conference history.
Ott swept the shot put and weight throw at Mount Vernon Nazarene with NCAA Division II Provisional Marks in both flights. He topped out at 19.10 meters in the weight throw and 16.51 meters in the shot put.
