STARK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: Sheriff George T. Maier regrets to report the death of Captain Robert L. Burns Jr., Reserve Deputy with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.

Stark County Sheriff’s Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

Sheriff George T. Maier regrets to report the death of Captain Robert L. Burns Jr., Reserve Deputy with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.  Bob became a Reserve Deputy Sheriff on May 12, 1981 and continued to serve in good standing until his death.  Bob served under five different Stark County Sheriffs during his 39 year span at the office.

Bob received numerous commendations during his tenure and was selected as Reserve Deputy of the Year in 2004.  Bob was a certified SCUBA diver and also trained motorcycle officer for the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.

Bob could always be seen working at the Stark County Fair and helping with many motorcycle dignitary escorts during the Pro Football Hall of Fame events.  Bob will be sorely missed at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.  We would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to all of his family and friends.
